THOUGHT LEADERSHIP AND RESEARCH FOR BUSINESS PROMOTION CONSULTANCY

INVEST IN AFRICA

The Challenge

Invest in Africa (IIA), an initiative of an IOC, is a group of international companies working together to address the cross-sector challenges of doing business in Africa. IIA is focused on supporting local businesses (in Ghana and Kenya to follow) by providing greater access to finance, skills and markets, making it easier for international companies to source locally and at scale. Gong was appointed to lead stakeholder relations.

The Strategy

Gong set up a series of high-profile and wellattended events and breakfast meetings, IIA is committed to sustainable investment, building long-term local partnerships and supporting the economies in which they operate. We devised and delivered a major research project to prove the case for the IIA’s flagship, Africa Partner Programme initiative.

The Outcome

Following the publication of the research (which was conducted locally among SMEs in Ghana), IIA was awarded a $1m funding grant by the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance – a body of the African Development Bank. Gong also facilitated introductions, carried out interviews and delivered case studies as part of a stakeholder communications plan whose target audience included government, its trade associations and ministries, potential corporate partners and local Ghanaian business communities.
