The Challenge

Kenya’s first mixed-use real estate development, Garden City, on Nairobi’s Thika Highway includes East Africa’s largest retail mall, residential apartments and family villas, and once completed will offer an adjacent business park with extensive office space, a business hotel and landscaped grounds. The Garden City team was looking for a full PR, design, digital, and branding service from a single supplier to support the sales team, project manage the development’s launch and to raise the mall’s profile to attract customers and potential tenants. Gong was tasked to deliver on this multi-faceted brief, up to the opening of the mall in 2015.

The Strategy

Gong Kenya’s PR team worked very closely with the Gong UK creative team to refine the logo, and lead the branding, messaging and collateral development. We developed the marketing and communications plan, and wrote and designed all advertising, marketing and sales materials plus all digital content including the website, social media channels and online stakeholder communications. The Gong Kenya team set up and ran the Garden City press office as well as planning and managing all aspects of the launch event of Phase One of the overall project in September 2015, which was attended by over 500 people.

The Outcome

Garden City Phase One was successfully launched at a high profile and well attended event in 2015; work for which Gong won a Best Brand launch award in Kenya.  Additional phases of Garden City have been successfully rolled with Gong managing various aspects of the development’s mar-comms requirements from marketing planning to advertising, to media relations and advising on crisis communications.
